Before installing a new compressor it is important to know the following instructions. Otherwise, it is possible that the installation does not correct the deficiency of the previous compressor or that the useful life of the new part is reduced.
Review the following circumstances and the steps we indicate below:
● If a gear slide has occurred on the crankshaft lance:
1. You should check the wear on th taper of the gear and replace it if necessary.
2. Check the crankshat nut. Must be in good condition and correct tightening torque.
3. If the gear is secured by a screw, check that it is in good condition and that its length is commensurate with the dimensions of the housing.
● If the compressor is replaced due to wear of internal parts, such as the crankshaft or connecting rod:
1. Check the oil temperatura and pressure. It should always be among the parameters recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle and engine.
2. Check the engine oil filter.
3. Check the frecuency of the engine oil change.
4. Check the compressor duty cycle.
● If the compressor is replaced by not generating enough air in the system or because it generates an excess of oil in the pneumatic circuit:
1. Check the compressor's oil cooling system for any damage or blockage in the intake pipes.
2. Check the air system for possible losses or leaks. Keep in mind that the ratio of charging time to operating time should never be greater than 50%.
3. Check the exhaust of the air dryer. If you find oil or cinder, then replace the air dryer cartridge and drain any water or oil that may be in the reservoirs.
● If the compressor is replaced due to carbon in the delivery pipe or cylinder head or gaskets:
1. Review the sections of the previous point.
2. Check the temperature of the cooling water circuit. It must always be within the parameters indicated by the manufacturer of the engine and vehicle.
3. Check the delivery pipe of the air circuit. If a pressure drop exceeds 1.5 bar from the compressor outlet to the reservoir, the pipe should be changed or cleaned.
● Furthermore:
- Do not use old screws in a new compressor head.
- Remove all the oxide and soot and never use silicones.
- If there is oil in the pneumatic system, check the cause and solve it. Otherwise, you will soon have the same problem again.
- Change the discharge pipe if you notice any blockage or dirt in it.
- Do not use any damaged joint and pay attention to its alignment with the screws in order to not to force or damage it.
- Clean and lubricate the screw holes before beginning ssembly.
